\ShPreface
World War I was supposed to be the “War to end all Wars”. Probably that will never happen. It was the first major war that covered many nations of the world and decimated a generation of Europeans. Over 10 million people died during the 1914 to 1918 period.

This title looks at the major battles of the war, the people and strategies involved, and details the casualties in each case.

The following people contributed greatly to the development of this title:

Patricia Priestley, Peter Macinnnis, Jenny Hamilton and David Webster.

This title provides excerpts of diaries from ANZAC soldiers at Gallipoli for the months of April to June. These excerpts have been taken from a wide variety of published and unpublished sources. Where you know the date of a battle, they are worth browsing through, starting a couple of days earlier, but it is also worthwhile searching on names or terms like 'Simpson' or 'Beachy Bill', to see what else is there.

Additional diary entries will continue to be added on an ongoing basis.

\BThe spelling and grammar in these diary excerpts have been kept as is to preserve the authenticity of the entries.\b
