Edmund Lockyer.
Major Edmund Lockyer, late of the 57th Regiment of Foot, was despatched from Sydney in 1825 to explore the Brisbane River. The Original Source Documents describing this expedition included here come directly from Lockyer’s journal.
In all cases, the original spelling and grammar are left as is to preserve the authenticity of the information.
The information was taken from Australian Discovery, edited by Ernest Scott, Professor of History in the University of Melbourne. Lockyer’s journal was lent to Professor Scott by Lockyer’s son, Sir Nicholas Lockyer.
